Hi, I’m Jana

My journey with Ayurveda began in 2001 with my first Ayurvedic massage – it helped me sleep and calmed my nervous system like nothing else. I felt human again and able to relax into my body fully.

I began studying Ayurveda on my own and loved how it described the connections between the seasons and foods, and what is best for each unique individual. I wanted to help others in the way Ayurvedic Massage had helped me so I began my own journey in bodywork.

I graduated from CORE Massage Institute in Knoxville, TN in September 2004 and obtained my TN Massage License in May 2005. I have mainly specialized in a mix of Swedish and Myofascial Integration and am Certified in NeuroMuscular Therapy American Version. I have provided mobile massage at clients’ homes within TN. I’ve worked with some of my clients for over 15 years.

In 2014 I realized a dream and graduated from SAMA Seaside Academy of Massage & Ayurveda, owned by Karyn Chabot.  We studied a well-rounded approach to Ayurveda and bodywork.  Jennifer and I actually met while we took classes there in 2013! I have also been a member in good standing of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association since 2014.

One of my goals is making Ayurveda relatable, available and compassionate work for everyone. It’s especially useful during transitional periods of life when the way may seem bumpy and needs a little soothing with an open heart, pacifying oil and kind hands.

I am so grateful to Jennifer as she has allowed me to train with her and observe Classical Ayurveda in action and to learn her specific sequences. I’m learning and re-learning so much! I have a Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of TN at Knoxville. It taught me to always be curious and be comfortable asking questions.

I hope we see people from Chattanooga as well as attract people from other states and countries who wish to experience Classical Ayurveda to help with transitions and balance. I am very grateful to become a therapist at Perimenopause Massage Therapy & Ayurveda! I look forward to seeing clients on Wednesdays and Thursdays for Ayurvedic massage and bodywork.

FAQ's

What is Āyurveda?

Āyurveda is India's traditional system of health and healing. It is a holistic approach that uses temporary adjustments to your food choices, lifestyle recommendations, therapeutic massage, and body treatments, to restore health. Āyurveda offers a wealth of sound knowledge to maintain health throughout every season and every stage of life.

I've tried changing my diet and lifestyle and it didn't work. How is Āyurveda different?

Āyurveda is personalized to each individual. It utilizes the qualities of foods, drinks, and activities to establish balance. Āyurvedic herbo-mineral formulations are selected for you based on your state of health. Formulations along with appropriate changes to your food choices and lifestyle ensure that you get back to your natural state of balance.

How is Āyurveda practiced online? Isn't pulse assessment needed?

Āyurveda is quite conducive to online practice. In classical Āyurvedic assessment, questioning and visual clues provide a wealth of information. Pulse assessment is actually a somewhat modern addition to classical assessment methods. It is not a necessary component for a quality assessment.

How is Āyurveda different than other holistic healing methods?

Āyurveda is time-tested. It's speculated to be thousands of years old and probably the oldest health system known to man. The classical practice of Āyurveda holds to the time-tested methods that existed thousands of years ago.

Unlike other modern approaches to holistic medicine, Āyurveda utilizes a detailed framework for the measurement, assessment and management of health. It is an extensive practice that is studied rigorously and is effective when applied with precision.

Āyurveda is personalized to each individual. Your day, diet, health history and so much more are taken into consideration to create your Care Plan.
